The Agrocomposite project also aims to provide university students with a broader range of knowledge. In May 2024, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics hosted a lecture and workshop, where two invited speakers presented their research on biochar and composting. Gábor Szőllősi, representing Agrofutura Ltd., presented the applicability of biochar and compost products for soil improvement and explained his company’s research and development activities. They aim to produce and market biochar and compost-based products that have an excellent soil improvement effect and are accessible to everyone. The second speaker was Dr Márk Rékási from the HUN-REN ATK Soil Science Institute, who presented a previous field experiment with biochar and its results. The lecture was attended mainly by students of environmental engineering and bioengineering but also by students from other faculties interested in environmental protection and sustainability, who are active in the university and college Green Circles.
